Keep wildlife and soil health at the heart of your gardening with seeds for gardens that work with nature.
Here you will find our small but ever-growing selection of seeds to help wildlife, improve soil and provide you with home-grown fresh produce. We are a small, independent seed business based in the heart of North Yorkshire with all of our packets hand-packed on site.
Many wildflowers are happy being sown in spring, the hardiest of these such as cornflower and corncockle can be sown in March in the right conditions. By summer the flowers will be buzzing with pollinators. As we move into April and soils warm up, conditions become optimal for sowing most other wildflower seeds, including perennial wildflowers and wildflower mixtures. The key determiner is conditions rather than calendar date; and do not despair if the weather turns against you. Wildflowers have a wide sowing window in spring and even if you miss your chance they are perfectly happy to be sown in autumn too.
Roselyn Seeds believes in useful, practical gardening. We don't do ornamentals, everything needs to have a purpose. A garden is for more than looking pretty, it should be a thriving ecosystem full of wildlife, healthy soil and a productive kitchen garden.
Wildflower seeds are the gardener's way of giving something back to nature. Dedicating a patch of earth to these native wildflowers creates a natural habitat for bees, butterflies and other pollinators. These flowers have evolved over millions of years alongside their insect counterparts — insects rely on the flowers for nectar and pollen, while the flowers rely on those same insects for pollination.
Yes they are wild, but there is beauty in disorder. A well grown patch of UK wildflowers will quickly become the talking point and centrepiece of any garden. The buzzing activity of bees, butterflies and other pollinators never ceases to captivate.
All our seeds are hand packed at our business in the heart of North Yorkshire.
Most of our products come in fully recyclable plastic-free packaging.
We use only top quality seed from trusted suppliers and growers. Fully germination tested and cleaned to the highest specification.
Good gardening begins beneath the surface. Healthy soil is alive with microorganisms, earthworms, insects and mycorrhizal fungal networks that quietly recycle nutrients and support plant growth. When soil is cared for, everything grown in it becomes stronger and more resilient.
One of the simplest ways to improve soil naturally is by sowing green manure seeds. Their ability to capture nutrients and feed soil biology makes them a key component of any vegetable garden or allotment.
Different green manure species bring different benefits. Some are particularly good at building organic matter, others help fix nitrogen, and many simply provide valuable cover that keeps soil active between crops.
Over time these small improvements make a noticeable difference. Soil becomes easier to work and full of worms. The inherent fertility fuels the following crops. What's more, it is far more satisfying working with nature to build fertility than simply applying fertiliser and using bags and bags of compost. In a productive garden, seeds for soil improvement are just as valuable as seeds for food.
At Roselyn Seeds, we ensure quality by sourcing only the highest quality, cleanest seed. Germination testing is performed in-house to check seed viability. It’s a simple step that makes a real difference in the garden - you want to know that your seeds have the best chance of success.
Of course, seeds still need the right environment to perform. Balanced moisture, access to oxygen in the soil, and suitable temperatures all play their part in bringing seedlings to life; but at least you know you are starting with quality seeds.
Whether you’re establishing a patch of pollinator-friendly wildflowers, improving soil with green manure crops, or growing vegetables for the kitchen we want you to succeed as much as you do.
We're different at Roselyn Seeds.
It's all about value for us and that's why we strive to give the gardener a generous portion of seeds - and tell you exactly what weight and seed count you are getting for your money.
No more disappointed faces staring gloomily into a packet, thinking "Is that it?!".
