Sow Red King F1 peppers in a heated greenhouse or on a sunny windowsill where the temperature remains above 18°C. For the best results, sow seeds in February or March on top of high-quality seed compost, lightly covering them with a thin layer of compost. Place the pots in a propagator to help retain moisture, heat, and humidity. Keep the compost damp, but avoid overwatering to prevent saturation. Germination should occur within 14 to 28 days.

Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, move them into small individual pots and continue growing without the propagator. After the risk of frost has passed, transplant the young plants into grow bags, containers, or fertile soil in an unheated greenhouse or polytunnel. Space each plant about 50 cm apart.

For a bushier plant with earlier fruits, pinch back the growing tip when the plant reaches approximately 30 cm tall. This encourages side shoots and helps fruits ripen more quickly. Once the fruiting begins, feed your peppers weekly with tomato feed. The fruits will gradually turn from green to red as they ripen, but can be harvested at any stage.
Sweet peppers are incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes to add natural sweetness, and a crunchy texture. One of the most popular ways to enjoy them is by stuffing large sweet peppers like Red King F1 with a filling of rice and vegetables, topping with cheese and roasting. For a lighter option, fresh sweet peppers can be sliced thinly and added to salads, pairing perfectly with greens, tomatoes, and a tangy dressing.

Grilling or roasting sweet peppers brings out their natural sweetness—simply slice them, drizzle with olive oil, add some salt, and pepper, and cook until tender and slightly charred. They make a great side dish or can be used in wraps, sandwiches, or pasta.
They’re also great for making homemade salsas or dips; just chop them up and combine with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and lime for a refreshing salsa or add them to creamy guacamole or hummus.

Sweet peppers also make a fantastic addition to classic dishes like Bolognese. Simply chop them and sauté with onions, garlic, and tomatoes to add a sweet depth of flavour to the sauce.
They also work brilliantly in fajitas where they make a great companion to red onion.

Sweet peppers are a healthy addition to any meal, they are a great source of vitamin C, providing a significant boost to the immune system, and are also rich in antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins A and B6.
