Choose a sunny location with well-drained, weed-free soil, and sow the seeds by scattering them evenly across the surface in either spring or autumn. After sowing, gently rake the soil to cover the seeds and water regularly to keep the soil moist until the seedlings appear. Once the seedlings are established, reduce watering and only water if the soil in the root zone becomes dry.

The plants will begin to bloom in June, offering vibrant flowers throughout the summer, continuing all the way through to September. As annuals, these plants will naturally die off at the end of the growing season and shed their seeds onto the soil below. To help ensure the plot comes back next year, lightly cultivate the soil with a rake at the end of the season, then firm it down gently. This simple step increases the chances of the seeds germinating and returning to create another beautiful, colourful display next year.

All of the species in this mixture feature on the RHS plants for pollinators list due to their ability to provide pollen and nectar to many pollinating insects. Learn more at rhs.org.uk/plantsforpollinators

The species in the mixture attract different types of pollinators including bees, butterflies, beetles, moths and wasps. This variety is key to sustaining a healthy and vibrant pollinator population, as different pollinators have unique needs in terms of the types of flowers they visit. Ultimately this helps to maintain and nurture a diverse ecosystem in your garden.
