Yorkshire Rose Hand packed in North Yorkshire
Recyclable Packaging Plastic-Free, Recyclable Packaging
Botanical Name — Cucumis sativus

A dependable outdoor cucumber with long, smooth fruits and a delicious crisp, mild flavor. Burpless Tasty Green F1 Cucumbers are bred for ease of digestion and have no bitterness.

As a ridge (outdoor) cucumber, it is well suited to the UK climate and is happiest grown outside, although it can also be grown successfully in a greenhouse.
Like most indeterminate cucumbers, it grows steadily through the season, producing long stems that can be trained upwards or allowed to spread along the ground.

Packet Contents

A pack contains 25 cucumber seeds, with each plant capable of producing 10 or more cucumbers. It is a good idea to sow two or three batches from March onwards to extend the cropping period.

Sowing Instructions

  • Start seeds under cover from late March into April.
  • Sow seeds on their side approximately 1 cm deep in small pots of seed compost.
  • Keep compost moist but not waterlogged; seedlings usually appear within two weeks.
  • Harden off plants before moving outside once all risk of frost has passed.
  • Choose a warm, sheltered position in full sun.
  • Transplant into the ground or into containers of at least 30 cm.
  • Alternatively, direct sow outdoors in May or June once the soil has warmed.
  • Space plants around 60 cm apart.
  • Protect young plants from slugs and snails.
  • Train plants onto supports or allow them to spread along the ground.
  • Pinch out the growing tip after around 7 leaves to encourage fruiting.
  • Feed plants once the first fruits begin to develop.
  • Harvest regularly when fruits are young for the best flavour and to extend harvest.
