Botanical Name — Myosotis arvensis

Field Forget-Me-Not (Myosotis arvensis) is a charming annual to short-lived biennial wildflower that makes a beautiful addition to wildlife gardens and meadow plantings. It produces clusters of small, delicate blue flowers, occasionally tinged with pink. The flowers are particularly attractive to solitary bees and other small pollinating insects.
It is particularly useful for filling gaps in borders and wildflower areas, quickly establishing to provide early nectar for pollinators.

Field Forget-Me-Not seeds are suited to sowing in mid to late spring or early autumn. Seeds usually germinate within two weeks and require very little maintenance once established. Spring sowings may produce flowers in the same year.

Packet Contents

The packet contains 2 g of seed – approximately 4000 individual seeds, enough to cover around 4 m² depending on sowing density.

Growing Instructions

  • Field Forget-Me-Not will grow on most soil types, but thrives best in sandy or loamy soils.

  • Choose a site with moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.

  • Sow in mid to late spring or early autumn when the soil is warm.

  • Prepare the area by removing weeds and lightly cultivating the soil to create a fine tilth.

  • Scatter the seeds evenly over the soil surface, gently rake in and water if required.

  • Seeds usually germinate within two weeks. Once established, seedlings generally require little attention.

  • Do not apply fertiliser, as wildflowers grow best in soils low in nutrients.

  • Spring sowings may flower in the same year, otherwise flowering usually occurs the following season.

  • Plants often self-seed naturally, helping to maintain the display in future years.

Features on the Royal Horticultural Society's Plants for Pollinators list due to its pollen and nectar producing qualities.
